DiaSorin pursues its objectives building on the depth of its experience in the field of immunodiagnostics, its commitment to research and development, its constant attention to next-generation technologies and its strong management team
1968
DiaSorin is born as a division of Sorin Biomedica S.p.A..
1970 - 1985
Building and consolidating its knowhow in biotechnology, DiaSorin begins to develop a portfolio of products designed for use with RIA and ELISA technologies.
1986 - 1999
Sorin Biomedica acquires control of INCSTAR Inc., a U.S. company active in the market for in vitro diagnostics. The activities that operate in the field of in vitro diagnostics are divested as a separate company called DiaSorin S.r.l., which is then sold to American Standard Inc (ASI).
2000 - 2004
Following a management buyout (2000) backed by Iniziativa Piemonte (now Investimenti e Partecipazioni S.p.A.) and other financial and industrial investors, including Interbanca and SNIA, DiaSorin buys Byk Sangtec from Altana AG (2002) and becomes the owner of the rights to the LIAISON® platform: the conversion to CLIA technology of products already available for use with ELISA technology begins.
2005 - 2006
DiaSorin strengthens its commercial presence, opening new branches in Mexico, Israel and China. Its research and development activities focus on expanding the portfolio of LIAISON® products with new families of reagents (autoimmunity) and new “specialty” reagents (Vitamin D).
2007 - 2009
DiaSorin invests in molecular diagnostics, signing a licensing agreement with Eiken Chemical Co. Ltd. for the use of the LAMP technology. It consolidates its direct presence in Europe, opening branches in Portugal, Austria and the Czech Republic, and in North America, with a branch in Canada. It strengthens its leadership position as a specialist in vitro diagnostics acquiring Biotrin, an Irish group that is the world leader in the diagnosis of maternal-fetal infections caused by Parvovirus.
2010
It strengthens its commercial presence opening a new branch in Australia, and enters into the blood banks market acquiring the Murex® product lines.
